I would say that I hope this marks a step in the right direction for Metallica and that Hardwired Unnecessary Ellipsis to Self-Destruct was the beginning of a new era of classic albums in the band's discography, but we all know that isn't the case--it's a wacky anomaly of goodness that will inevitably be followed up with yet another disastrous

Hardwired: A great opening song for the album. This song is one of my favorites from the album. This song has a Kill 'Em All vibe to it because it's thrash, it's short, it's punk influenced, it's straight to point. It's the shortest song on the album clocking in at a little over 3 minutes.

The furious pace comes to a simmer on the nuanced âDream No Moreâ and âHere Comes Revenge,â both worthy of stadium anthem status. But the prevailing mood is downcast. HardwiredâŠ. To Self-Destruct is hard music for hard times, an amplified reaction toâand reflection ofâan inhumane society.
Producer Greg Fidelman was in to help the process hit full speed and, rather than wait until 2017, the release of HardwiredâŠTo Self-Destruct was pushed up to November 18th. Preview. Anchored by James Hetfieldâs unctuous roar, songs like âHardwired,â âMoth Into Flame,â and âAtlas, Riseâ are no-frills, hard-charging thrash that knocks over everything in its path. Make no mistakeâ Hardwired is easily Metallicaâs best album since 1991âs landmark self-titled LP, a victory on par with Weezer âs White Album for comeback of the year. But as was the

AboutClocking in at just over three minutes in length, âHardwiredâ is a concise and pummeling song that harkens back to Metallicaâs earlier thrash metal sound, and features lyrics dealing with humanityâs effect on the planet and on ourselves, and questioning whether that effect is an adverse one. The song was released as the lead single from the groupâs tenth studio album, HardwiredâŠTo Self-Destruct, and was officially introduced as part of a new album announcement on Metallicaâs official website on August 18, 2016. The band also released an official music video for the song on the same us a question about this songWhat have the artists said about the song?In an interview for the bandâs official fan magazine So What! prior to the release of Hardwired⊠To Self-Destruct, James Hetfield discussed the lyrical themes covered on the track: âHardwiredâ is so simple, it is not Shakespeare, I know that. But gosh, are humans really doing the right thing? You know. And in the history of time, weâre a little blip. And are we gonna be gone? Are we phasing ourselves out with electronics? Are we becoming this? Are we gonna self-destruct because of our egos and all of the stuff that makes humans human? That whole sentence âhardwired to self-destructâ came from a friend of mine that was just throwing it out there as a struggling addict. Is that what itâs like for us? Is our default just to die? earlier that weâre supposed to. Wreck. Destroy our lives; are we hardwired to self-destruct? And that just caught my ear."CreditsAdditional Recording EngineersRecorded AtMetallica's HQ, San Rafael, CaliforniaRelease DateNovember 18, 2016Hardwired Live PerformancesTags
